NJFB-take 2

each month we are trying to plan and organize a service experience for our teens…and this month i’m so excited we are heading to the New Jersey Food Bank on the 15th…it’s an AWESOME organization that really helps meet the needs of our neighbors.

for this experience though, we have limited space, so letting Deb know ASAP is huge. the NJFB requires that all volunteers be over the age of 12…so sorry for some of you out there…we’ll bring you back some stories:) this month we’ll also be joined by new life fellowship too…so expect lots of fun in addition to serving:) we never know exactly what we are going to do when we get there, but it’s always worth while and makes a difference. and if you are a parent willing to drive, please let deb know as well as we may need spots.

if you are able to go, let deb know! i’ll be there deb…count me in!

Fresh Starts

I can’t believe it’s time for school already… i’m not ready for this and i’m not even gong back to school! (but kayla starts this week for the 1st time!)

I always had this odd feeling in my stomach when i started a new school year. i think it was a mixture of the excitement of the unknown & what the year was going to bring and realizing i wasn’t a huge fan of school…it meant summer was over… didn’t like that at all…

one thing i did always look forward to, YOUTH GROUP starting up again:) so for me…i can’t wait to get up and going with everyone again. we kick off the year with Mini-Golf this week at Monster Mini Golf @ 12pm. IT’S COMPLETELY FREE!!!! COME WITH FRIENDS:)

then we’re kicking off PBbk on the 14th and going through the Old Testament! we’ll be connecting with New Life Fellowship and pastor ryan will be co-teaching with me…super excited about that! make note of the time change, 6-8pm!

not to be outdone, sunday nights return on the 18th full steam. matt has great things planned for us this season and i can’t wait!

we’re praying for all of you as you have/will kick-off the new school year. be safe, smart, and continue to listen for what God has for you…it’s a NEW YEAR!

And Summer Begins

Hey Gang,

Believe it or not but summer is here! It seems to have taken it’s merry time getting here, with all the late storms and changes in temperature, but its here – at least its here for LHCYOUTH! This Wednesday marks the end of PBBK for the summer, and we’ve already had our BBQ, so as of Thursday morning we switch into our summer schedule. This will, as always, begin with our trip to DORNEY PARK!!

Dorney is always a great trip, and will no doubt surpass our expectations – it always does. However, since we aren’t renting a buss, and because of the potential number of students coming to this trip, we are in need of potential drivers; volunteers to be able to drive a bunch of crazy students to, or from, Dorney park. If you are able to drive, and are willing to offer your time to shuttle students, please email me (Matt@LHCNJ.Net) to let me know. The times for driving are from 8am-10am (to Dorney), and 6pm-8pm (to LHC).

For students, a few reminders always seem to be needed. First, bring sun screen, it aways seems to grow sunny out and without fail someone gets burned (i have fallen victim to this several times). Second, bring money for lunch and dinner, sadly because of how dorney is set up, we have to eat in the park and it always is a little pricey. Third, girls please don’t wear a Bikini if you have a choice; Tankini is okay, as is one piece, but if you only have Bikini please wear a colored shirt. And for the guys, please no Speedos!!!!! And remember, if you bring valuables, you’ll need to pay for a locker

Lets make this summer the best we’ve had!!!! Since our Calendar is so packed out, i’m sure we can get that job done! ;-P lets make this 2011 Bonanza truly Legen……..wait for it……….hope your not lactose intolerant…………because the next word is ‘dary!’ LEGENDARY!!!!!!

End with a BANG!

well, within the next week or so, school will officially be over for the 2010/11 year.  i’ll be completely honest…this year FLEW BY! i can’t even begin to process all that’s happened this year, but i’m happy that as a youth ministry we were able to do that together on sunday night.  our end of the year BBQ is always an awesome night: hockey, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, and food….a match made close to heaven:) but on a serious note, we had a change to look back at the past year to remember and thank God for all that we’ve seen happen this year.  it’s been a WONDERFUL year…

but all good things much come to and end…right?

NO WAY!!! not with LHCyouth baby! when summer comes, we kick it into HIGH GEAR! even though we take a breath from PBbk & youth group, we’ve got events thrown all over the summer calendar: dorney park, go karts, laser tag, disc gold, hiking, MESSY GAMES, hockey nights, and the list goes on and on… it’s going to be amazing:)

Old Night Out

Hey Gang!

This sunday, in addition to our normal Youth Group event, we are having a special addition, we’re calling it “old night out.” Old night is a form of costume party! Everyone is encouraged to come dressed as Old school, old fashioned, retro, or ancient as you can. There will free food prizes for the winners of “Old Night Out Fashion Show!” We’re going to have a grand old time, dressing up, trying to play games in said costumes and even having older music going on while we spend time together!

(Looking more fantastic than Him /\ because he wont be there)

Bring your friends, come dressed to the max, and be ready for a night of fun friends and old school grandeur!
I look forward to seeing you all there!
Also be aware that the meetings times for this event are the same as normal Youth Group – Jr High 5-6:30, Sr High 7:30-9!

Grace and Peace~
