Missions Season

i can’t even begin to tell you how excited i am for this next month at Long Hill Chapel and LHCyouth.  i feel like a kid in a candy store right now!  we kick off our missions week on the 13th with Project Experience: A guided walk-through exhibit showing the many issues our missionaries encounter on the field, as well as the ministries we support both globally and locally. a handful our of students have already done this at LIFE 2010…and it had a great impact on those who went through it. we’ll go through it as a group, but i’m pleading with you to experience this as a family…it’s too important not to. times it’s open can be found online here: LHC calendar

our schedule is going to change on the 13th…so here it is, but make sure to check the calendar for sure…things might change:)

3/13 – 24:7 @ 5pm  & iT @ 6pm (both groups will be going through project experience)

3/16 – PBbk @ 5:30 for pizza, 6:00 for project experience, 7:00 for prayer with/for missionaries

3/20 – project lunch: missions conference lunch after 2nd service…an experience you won’t want to miss!

-24:7 & iT @ 5pm – MOVIE NIGHT!! pick up is at 7:30pm

can you see why i’m excited?  pretty sweet right?

and just to liven up your day, please enjoy a little video from sunday night…the Bible in 50 seconds with Sean and Richard…our guys are so awesome:)

Valentines Day. Strange how people act towards each other on that day. We tend to be more patient and thoughtful for each other, buying gifts and flowers – if you have someone to give them too – and dressing in red. I find it almost humorous how we, as followers of Jesus, tend to be scoffed at when we are patient or kind to someone ‘undeserving,’ and yet on Valentines day everyone tries to act the same; being caring and patient. I am really enjoying how Jimmy is taking us through Romans, especially after seeing people behaving on Valentines day, it is becoming more clear how we all desperately need a savior; every moment of every day we need Jesus.

Some people need Jesus more physically than we do, living in NJ – just ask anyone who went to 30 Hour Famine to share what they learned and felt from it. As much fun as LHCYouth tries to have, with PBBK, Sunday School, and Youth Group; we all hope and pray that above all else, Jesus is clearly present and active here.

Because with Jesus, every day is Valentines day. And every day, he gives us grace, hope, faith, and love. I don’t know about you, but without those things – all the chocolate and gifts in the world would be meaningless and void.
Hope to see you all soon

Grace and Peace~

SuperTime!

That was a fantastic Superbowl! I don’t know about you, but there are very few things that I enjoy better than yelling at a TV, hoping that the players that are hundreds of miles away will hear me, with friends, all while eating Gooood food. But the crux of the matter isn’t the time spent in front of the TV, its really just the Time; the time spent with friends. I think that is what I’ve missed most about not having PBBK these past three weeks, the missed time with everyone. Past all the planning, scheduling, prep and fun, is the desire to open up a place where you guys feel welcomed and get a rich time with friends; and most of all, Jesus.

The time we spend in the word at PBBK and YG is where we really hope students can listen and wrestle in their minds with what they hear, from God and from us. The time we spend in Small groups is where we hope every student feels safe enough to share whats going on in their lives; including the wrestling from the time in the word. And the time we spend in games and fun, is simply to bring about the community of teens: simply enjoying the live and youth God made.

Wow such a simple idea, but when on paper it becomes such a bland tasting piece of food. And that’s not what we want. We want the best tasting food, the richest screams at the TV, and the best friends to share this with.

Grace and Peace~

P.S. And on the topic of food, we are having 30Hour Famine this weekend! I hope everyone got their sponsor-sheets filled out and are ready for a weekend of fun, growth, and hunger! We will be meeting at church at 5pm, Friday night, and going to Stone Crest church for the evening (see Calendar for more details) and then returning home Saturday evening.

Dress to Impress

This Sunday we  have what could very well be one of the most impressive nights in the LHCyouth calendar… Our annual Christmas Banquet…

We’ll be meeting in Fellowship Hall from 6pm-9pm for our festivities.  Gents, clean up! we’d like to see you dressed to impress…ties, nice pants, jackets if you’ve got them!  Ladies, have fun! I know you never really need an excuse to get dressed up, I watch Kayla do it every day:)

Please come w a $5 or under white elephant gift, and items for the polaris project (found in our downloads section).  May the best/worst prize win…

Bring it!

it’s that time of year again… costume dodgeball time!!!!

we’ve been challenged again by Stonecrest Community Church to a duel to the death (maybe not the death…but it sounded way cooler than duel to the “you’re out”)! we’ll be starting up at 5:30pm @ LHC and going till about 8:30pm. there will be all sorts of different games and fun to enjoy. the cost is $5 to cover pizza and drinks, all extra $$ goes to the Alliance Youth Project. and as always, the better the costume, the better the dodgeball! come dressed ready to impress~~
